In the parrot park we saw this beautiful rhinoceros bird.
And this nice parrot!
Hey? Are you looking at me?
Where is the fish?
And this nice stork.
Fish-eagle on the lookout!
Probably for this big-belly piggy?
This is a snowowl.
And a Oehoe.
Lizard (difficult shot, not much light and at 300mm......with 1/30th sec exposure)

Cow milking robot
The shop where we always buy our fresh cheese, (Ruurhoeve in vershof Bladel) have their own farm with cows. Yesterday they got their first brand new milking robot (Lely type). We were lucky to see it in operation.
It was teaching itself the specifics of each cow, in close cooperation with the farmer and 2 engineers from Lely.
And also of course the cows have to get used to it. Some are still scared a little bit of the robot. But some other cows like it and already went 5 times in 1 day to the milking robot.
Now each cow can more or less milk itself, it does not have to wait for the fixed times of 600 or 1800hrs. The farmer only has to concentrate on health of his cows. The robot automatically gives alarms if a cow did not come within 1 day or if it gives not the normal amount of milk.

Pasta!
A long wish of mine came true: making my own pasta. A few weeks ago I accidentally found a shop in Oirschot that sells the real italian durum semola and farina wheat (with the standard dutch stuff the pasta is too soft).
And after a very long search on the internet I found a shop in Eindhoven that sells pasta-machines. It is "les cuisines" in "de kleine berg".
For the first test I use "standard" dutch wheat. It is also for cleaning the machine because you use it for the 1st time.
It all works very easy, and you get the hang of it in a few minutes! And it is really nice to do.....too..
And this is the tagliatelle after cooking! Not bad for the 1st time. Next time I have to add a lot more salt and roll it even a little bit thinner, but that is no problem with this machine, just set the knob a one number higher!

Many rain: so cooking time!
It is raining a lot these days, so not nice for riding the motorcycle or walking......so time enough for some cooking!
Here's an Ambonese meatloaf dish with cabbage, rice and some emping on the side (I forgot the atjar!)
Very nice: fresh and ready within 1 hour!
Or, salmon with stewed carrots (NEVER cook vegetables!) and tagliatelle with a tomato-onion sauce.
Also very nice: fresh and also ready within 1 hour!

Again: the abbey route
Today we drove the "abbey route" again, because it was so nice. We started at the Postel abbey.
From there we headed south. And had to cross the channel on this 2nd worldwar bailey bridge. The part where you drive on is just hard-wooden planks. It looks flimsy but it could hold a tank in the 2nd worldwar!
From there we went to the Averbode Abbey, one of the most beautiful ones of Belgium.
This is where we parked our bikes, next to the gate (illegally?)
This is the Abbey-church. Where the "Norbert-fathers" sing and pray.
This is the inside.
From there to the Tongerlo Abbey.
A view through the main-gate....
To reach those abbeys we had to drive on some very small roads. Here's one next to a big canal. On the rightside is a very old bunker.
Middle Limburg route
On monday we drove a trip through the middle part of "Limburg". We started in Ospel, and via many small roads we drove to Maaseik, from there up to Stevensweert, where we had to help a little boy that was lying strangled in his bicycle. Fortunately after we -unstrangled- him from his bike he stood up very quickly and started walking again (it looked more serious than that...). After that we went on with our trip and passed the very beautiful town St. Odillienberg (under Roermond). It has a very nice church on a hill.

Hungry after motor pickup
The valves of my motorcycle had to be adjusted, and the carburettors synchonized. That's a difficult task, so I took it to the workshop. After we picked it up we were hungry........
So we went to "Herberg Kerkzicht" in Diessen, because there they have the best fries of the whole neighborhood. It is really true! You should try it!
